“Näringslivet Möter Förorten” Creating Meaningful Connections Through Games

At Ion Game Design, we believe that board games are more than entertainment, they are tools for education, inclusion, and social impact. That’s why we were proud to participate in Näringslivet Möter Förorten, a Swedish initiative that connects businesses with communities to foster dialogue, opportunity, and long-term collaboration.

The event brought together professionals from a wide range of industries and backgrounds, with a shared focus on building bridges between sectors and neighborhoods. For us, it was a natural fit. Our mission has always been to design board games that spark curiosity, reflect real-world issues, and bring people together — across cultures, generations, and experiences.

Our Creative Director, Jon Manker, took part in the chess tournament alongside his young partner Vidar, representing Ion Game Design with warmth, heart, and a shared love of strategy and play.

Events like this remind us why we do what we do: to design games with purpose, and to contribute to a more thoughtful, inclusive and connected world — one player, and one story, at a time.
