What should I do if my game arrives with missing or damaged components?
If any part of your game arrives damaged or incomplete, here are some common fixes and next steps:
- Bent neoprene mats: Place parchment paper (or a thin cloth/shirt) over the mat and lightly iron it on the lowest “steam” setting until it flattens out.
- Bent or deformed miniatures: Dip the miniature in hot water for 10–15 seconds, carefully reshape it, then set it in cold water for another 10–15 seconds to hold its form.
- Missing or unusable components: If your game is missing pieces or if damage cannot be fixed, please fill out the following form and we will send you replacement parts:

Where can I receive updates on my order delivery?
Please send an email to info@iongamedesign.com and we will check your order and get back to you. Please note that the response time is 5-10 days.
Why is my order taking longer than expected?
There has been a queue in production here at ION caused during the world events in 2020-2022. To decrease a queue is a gradual process, and it is continuously decreasing, which is great! We try to keep customers updated through the Production Pipeline.
Will I get a tracking number when my order ships?
As soon as your order is shipped by the fulfillment center they will send you a tracking number by email. Tracking numbers are not handled by ION.
How much does shipping cost to my location?
To get an estimate on how much your shipment will cost, you will need to go to our online store.
Once there, go to the items you want to purchase and add them to your cart. Each time you do this, you will have the ability to choose what region you are shipping to. Choose according to the address you will want the order to ship to.
In order to view the estimated shipping cost, click "Checkout." You will then be prompted to enter in your shipping address information. Once this information has been entered, any applicable shipping options will be displayed, along with their associated cost.
I haven’t received my order yet. What should I do?
There is nothing quite as frustrating with online shopping as having a shipment go astray.
There may be a few reasons why you have not received any notification for your package:
- Double-check that your order doesn't contain any preorders. If there is one, please note that none of your items within that order will ship until the preorder is available.
- If your tracking number is reading as invalid, your information may not yet be available. Check the carrier's website periodically as their system may not have updated. It can sometimes take 24-48 hours for a package to reach a distribution hub and be scanned in.
- If Kickstarter order make sure that you have filled out pledge manager and paid shipping.
- While you will receive a dispatch notification, you may not receive a tracking number if your package is under 2kg. This weight range usually falls under the threshold of required tracking with most couriers.

Can I cancel my order?
Please send an email to info@iongamedesign.com and they will help you to cancel your order and receive a refund.
Can I make changes to my order?
Unfortunately our webstore does not allow you to make any changes to your order once payment is made. If you want to make any changes then please send an email to info@iongamedesign.com and they will help you to make changes to your order.
How difficult are ION's games?
You can understand the level of difficulty of ION’s games looking at the weight given trough the Board Game Geek weight system.
Factors that affect a game's weight include:
- Amount of rules
- Gameplay length
- Amount of luck
- Technical skill required (math, planning, reading, etc.)
- Amount of choices available
- Amount of bookkeeping
- Level of difficulty
BGG uses a 5-point Weight scale:
- Light (1)
- Medium Light (2)
- Medium (3)
- Medium Heavy (4)
- Heavy (5)
Ion Game Design covers different levels of difficulty. From the easiest ones (like StegegetS), to the most elaborate ones (like High Frontier 4 All).
Can I submit my game idea to Ion?
We have set production schedule for 2024-2026 so at the moment unfortunately we do not accept any game submissions. However in line with ION’s vision to spread board gaming culture we want to offer that benefit without restraint! Why does Ion use crowdfunding for its games?
At Ion Game Design we fully embrace the crowdfunding path for our games making it the standard way we introduce our games to the market. There are several reasons why.
Community. First and foremost we believe in a continuously evolving relationship with our players. Through crowdfunding we can share the later parts of the development process with you all and open up for feedback and other involvement.
First access. You are ensured to get the game in the first wave of shipping, the same wave that is sent to shops.
Good price. We always offer our games at a good price for those who back them on Kickstarter. In addition we also offer combination packs at even better prices that are normally not found later in our webshop.
Only actual shipping cost. As usual we will only add actual shipping costs to any order, nothing extra for handling. This will be added afterwards in the pledge manager which avoids it to be increased by campaign fees as well.
Combined shipping advantage. The pledge manager will as usual contain add-ons and all our other games. We will combine the shipping costs for all extra items bought in the pledge manager and any games backed during the Kickstarter.
Be a supporter of our efforts for the benefit of all. By backing the games you make it possible for us to have a more stable development process and to order larger print runs, and thus making it possible for the price per game to be lower for all of you.
How can I apply for a job or internship at Ion?

Does Ion have a physical store I can visit?
No, we don't have our own store, but hey, what a nice webshop :)
Why are all prices listed in USD?
We use USD in all our transactions as much as possible. We have set up a bank account that is run in USD, even though the bank is located in Sweden. This is to secure the value of backers money from fluctuations on the currency market, which otherwise is a risk. All manufacturers in China want the payment in USD. We also avoid some exchange service costs and can all in all keep prices lower this way.
NOTE: The prices are only written in USD, but you can use any currency through a credit card to PayPal.
Are all games in English?
All games in our product catalogue is published in English by Ion Game Design. Some of our license partners will then eventually publish our games in their own language.

What discounts do you have for retailers?

Are there minimum orders requirements?
For retailers, our minimum order is one case per game (case sizes vary by title).
Do you apply incremental bonuses based on revenues?
We have such deals for Language partners but not for Retailers or Distributors, But it is possible to establish them from case to case.
Is there possibility of deferred payments?
Invoice payment terms are NET 10.
What are the payment methods?
The payment methods are: wire transfer, credit card and PayPal.
What is the shipment cost?
Shipping costs are based on the order's weight. We have four fulfillment centers located in the US, Germany, UK and China, in order to minimize the shipping cost and avoid VAT and import taxes for our customers.
Each order above 2000 USD gets FREE shipping.
Do you have a stock balancing policy?
Some products are eligible for stock balancing and the undamaged games can then be returned to our warehouse within 6 months and you receive credits that can be used to get other products from the ION product line.
Do I need to create a new account for the High Frontier 4 All app?
No. You’ll use your existing platform account: Apple ID on iOS, Google Play on Android, and Steam on PC.
Is the digital game the same as the tabletop version?
The digital version is heavily inspired by the tabletop game and uses many of the same mechanics. Some systems have been redesigned to better suit a digital format, since we’re not limited by physical components. [See detailed comparison here.]
Can multiple people play on one device?
No, we do not want to add features that are specifically made for mobile. This is because we do not want to downgrade the Steam version that will also be released. The game is online multiplayer only, so each player needs their own device and account.
What’s the difference between the Steam and mobile versions?
Both versions include the same content and features. The only differences are in the interface and controls, which are optimized for either touch (mobile) or keyboard & mouse (Steam).
When will the game be released on Steam?
Mobile (iOS and Android) is launching first. The Steam version for PC, Mac, and Linux will follow once development is complete, with a redesigned UI to take advantage of larger screens.
Will there be a solo version?
Yes. The early access release (January) supports multiplayer that can be played solo. Dedicated single-player campaigns are planned for future updates.
Will additional modules be included?
The initial release includes the core game. Extra modules will be added in later updates.
I found a bug. How do I report it?
Please submit it in our bug report sheet. We will do our best to fix it as soon as possible.
On which platforms will the game be available?
The game will be released on iOS, Android, and PC (Steam).
I've got a new phone/tablet. Do I have to buy the app again?
No. The purchase is tied to your account (Apple ID, Google Play, or Steam). If you switch to a new device with the same account, you won’t need to repurchase. For purchase issues, please contact the platform’s customer support.
